With more than 20 years’ experience in various operational management and strategic leadership roles in the higher education and development planning sectors, Mr Luthando Jack is ideally placed to take the University forward across the portfolios of Human Resources, Support Services, Communication and Marketing, Infrastructure Services and Space Optimisation, ICT Services, and Campus Management.
Mr Jack joined Nelson Mandela University during the difficult Fees-Must-Fall period, ably guiding and facilitating engagement between students, management, and other parties in finding common ground and mutually beneficial solutions.
His skillset, built on a bedrock of advanced competencies in policy-making and administration, good governance, and institutional intelligence, has seen him serve on several regional and national bodies. This has enhanced his reputation as a visionary transformative leader within the higher education sector, in particular.
Before joining the institution in 2016, Mr Jack was the Founding Director for the Bureau for Institutional Research and Planning at Walter Sisulu University.
While working at the Eastern Cape Socio-Economic Consultative Council (ECSECC) as its Chief Operations Officer, he also served as an anchor of the governance and institutional capabilities working group of the Eastern Cape Planning Commission and drafted its Chapter on Governance and Institutional Capabilities for both its Diagnostic Report and Vision 2030 for the Eastern Cape Province.
